Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to Surv (“we,” “our,” or “us”). Surv allows users to create, share, and respond to short surveys and questionnaires.
This Privacy Policy explains:
- What information we collect
- How we use it
- How we protect it
- Your rights and choices
By using Surv, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
- Survey creator information
- Account identifiers (e.g., user ID, email if provided)
- Surveys you create (questions, answer options, descriptions)
- Survey responses
- Answers to survey questions, which may include:
- Multiple-choice selections
- Scale ratings
- Ranked choices
- Free-text comments
Important: Survey responses may include personal information only if the survey creator chooses to ask for it. We encourage creators not to request sensitive personal data.
Contacts and Distribution Data
If you use Surv’s distribution features, you may upload or manually enter contact information (such as names and email addresses) for people you want to invite to take your survey. This information is provided by you, belongs to you, and is used solely to send survey invitations on your behalf. You are responsible for having appropriate permission to contact these individuals.
If you connect a social media account (e.g., X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit) or a webhook-based channel (e.g., Slack, Discord) to distribute surveys, we store the connection credentials (such as access tokens or webhook URLs) needed to post on your behalf. We do not post without your action, and you can disconnect any channel at any time in Account Settings.
If you upload images to a survey, they are stored via our image hosting provider (Cloudinary).
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the app, we may automatically collect:
- Device and browser information
- IP address (used for security, abuse prevention, and duplicate-response detection)
- Timestamps of survey interactions
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns (e.g., which pages are visited), which uses cookies and similar technologies. This data is not used for advertising and is not linked to individual survey responses.
We do not use this data for advertising.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and operate the survey platform
- Display survey results to authorized creators
- Prevent duplicate or abusive responses
- Improve app functionality and usability
- Maintain security and system integrity
- Distribute surveys via email, connected social media accounts, or webhook-connected channels, at your direction
If you opt in to AI-assisted features, we may also use data to:
- Generate suggested survey questions
- Analyze or summarize survey responses
- Check survey questions for bias or clarity
AI & Large Language Model (LLM) Usage
Surv may use third-party AI services to support features such as:
- Survey question generation
- Bias or clarity review of questions
- Aggregated summarization of text responses
Important AI Safeguards
- AI processing is used only to support app functionality
- Survey responses are not used to train AI models
- Text sent to AI services is limited to what is necessary to perform the requested task
- AI outputs are reviewed or controlled by the app and its users
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data.
We may share limited data only in the following cases:
- With service providers who help us operate the app, including:
- Cloudinary (image hosting for survey images)
- Resend (email delivery for account, distribution, and digest emails)
- OpenAI (AI-assisted features — see “AI & LLM Usage” above)
- Google Analytics (aggregate usage analytics)
- Social media platforms and webhook endpoints you personally connect (e.g., X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit, Slack, Discord) — only when you choose to connect them and only to post content you direct us to post
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect rights and safety
- With survey creators, who can view responses to surveys they own
All third-party providers are required to protect data and use it only for agreed purposes.
- With service providers who help us operate the app, including:
Data Retention
- Survey data is retained for as long as the survey exists or until deleted by the creator
- When you request account deletion, your account is deactivated immediately and your surveys go offline. You have a grace period (currently 7 days) to cancel the deletion and restore your account.
- After the grace period, deletion is permanent: your contacts, mailing lists, connected accounts, and distribution history are erased entirely. Your surveys and their responses are retained but de-identified — stripped of any link to your account — so we can preserve aggregate research data without retaining your personal information.
- We may retain limited logs for security and abuse prevention purposes
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access your data
- Request correction or deletion
- Withdraw consent where applicable
- Request a copy of your data
You can request deletion of your account at any time from Account Settings. See “Data Retention” above for how this works.
Survey respondents should contact the survey creator for questions about how their responses are used.
For account-related requests, contact us at: privacy@mail.survapp.io
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including:
- Secure server infrastructure
- Access controls
- Limited internal data access
However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
Surv is not intended for children under 13 (or 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International Users
If you access the app from outside the United States, your data may be processed and stored in the U.S. or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users by updating the “Last updated” date or through the app.
